So on friday while out I got a call, I sat there yelling in the phone trying to get a response from the person on the other line before they finally hung up.

I thought maybe I had bad service or something and brushed it off, a few hours later my mom calls same thing shes not able to hear me, I get home and begin trying to test out different things to see if I could narrow the issue down, so interestingly facebook or skype video calls, and normal phone calls required me to plug in a headset because for some reason the mics wont turn on, however in the camera app or snapchat they record no problems, the sound recording app also works no problems as well.

Then today even with a headset for some reason my audio does work on my end when making call, ive tried my JBL headset from my Axon Prothe headset that came with it and a Samsung Bluetooth headphones, none of them will work.

I can hear the caller no problems but they dont hear a thing from me, So I just to be safe took out the sim put it in my Axon pro and bamm no problems with the calls.

Its very strange, did a factory reset and still having the same issues It worked the first week and a half no problem and still works on some applications, this definitely seems like some weird software bug.

Gonna wait until the next update and see what it does for me before calling and dealing with a swap. I hope you get this fixed soon. What is up with the quality control?

I had the same problem. I wasn’t in SAN Francisco for a wedding and this issue occurred at least 6 times, in the three days.

Hold the device very close to your mouth and let me know the outcome. When you did the factory reset, did you test it using all stock apps with it or did you install other apps first?

I was able to determine it was caused by the restore data, did another factory reset and this time didnt let anything restore, set up the device manually and the issue is resolved.

Glad to hear this was resolved. It finally happened to me, my mic cut out on phone calls. Hung up and called my wife, no dice I called my house phone, no dice, but this time I put it on speaker phone and she could hear me, took it off speaker and mic was working again.

Same thing for another call after that.

I then tried my wifes cell phone and it worked right off the bat. Decent signal for all the calls as well. Thats weird for me even toggling the speaker on and off didnt fix it.

Did you try a headset and did that not work either? Did you unlock the bootloader?

Because that’s probably what did it. Unlocked bootloaders are notorious for causing mic and audio issues. The root cause is that the bootloader is found inside the phone which is – you guessed it – where the mic is also located.

The bootloader was just being offered to be unlocked as of yesterday and this was in issue from last week, the bootloader had nothing to do with it.

I figured when you said the bootloader was located next to the mic I was like either this guys joking or hes really believing this haha.

I posted in a different thread here, but had the same issue with no one hearing me a couple different times the first day with the Axon 7, and then a week later.

I have no explanation for it. I didn’t reinstall or reset the phone.

I did get the update yesterday, so we’ll see if that has any effect. I haven’t had the issue in several days Weird stuff.

I can be in a place with good reception talk on the phone and they can hear me. Then Call someone else right after and 3 times in a row they can not hear me.

I then restart the phone and they can hear me fine. When they do hear me they say it sounds real clear. So please continue to look into this.

Have you tried using a headset? Well I think I did not. That is where you would tap your old phone when you do the first setup right?

I just let it pull my old apps used from my google account not the NFC tap process. I just now reset my Network.

So lets see if that helps. Its happens only happened a few times with a week in-between. So its hard to test. But restarting the phone has fixed it both times.

So makes me think its a bug. I’m following along closely on the thread. Test it out for a few days now and we’ll see if that corrects it at all.

I also had let google restore that apps the same way and thats when I was having the same issue, I reset the second time and didnt let google restore anything and the problem seems to be resolved for me now.

What is weird is this feature shouldn’t cause any issues but its interesting that you set up your phone the same and got the same call audio issue as well.

The same issue happened to me again, even after updating the system. I will reset the network as it was instructed and I will check again.

It’s quite annoying that the basic and core feature of a phone fails to work. I thought it was bad signal or T-mobile problem, but seems like it is my new phone No, I didn’t try a headset, never use one and didn’t have one with me I was travelling when my issue happened.

I will try a headset if it happens and try the speakerphone toggling also. Hopefully if I have time I will factory reset again and do the NFC Google app restore and put it through the tests again.

I will update here after I get a chance to do this. Even though I won’t be keeping this I truly want this phone to work so I have a reason to come back to it.

My apologies; I was joking. Were you able to try any of the steps mentioned by other users in the post? Also, you could try resetting the network connections on the device.

When you say you mic is doing more than that what do you mean? I just got an OTA about an hour ago. Lets see if that fixes it.
